Yet, these are easily-forgivable instances when one considers the lack of convention in terms of structure and narrative approach Home Run bears. For starters, I'm almost positive Home Run doesn't even mention the word "God" or "Jesus" until about a third of the way through the film, which is an immense step in terms of subtle filmmaking for this particular genre. I'm in a mixed marriage, and my wife the Christian, lost interest in the movie despite to the strong religious overtones. As a Jew, I was fascinated by the use of religious values to help cure addictions; it's a strong and powerful message. “Home Run” is the heartfelt and deeply religious story of a baseball star’s struggle with alcoholism and the Christian faith-based recovery group that gets him through.

This movie has played a major role in a life change for me and I hope it can help others as much as it has helped me. The movie covered so many things from arrogance to recklessness to redemption stemming from childhood issues that I am still in awe. Do not go in just expecting to see a baseball movie this is a tough love kind of movie that will pull at your heart strings if you truly have been there and shows how God can change your life not a baseball drama. Home Run goes off on its own tangents, illustrates its own rules, and, in turn, produces a winning display of a faith-based character study and the idea that people can indeed change.

It’s a credit to Elrod that he handles all the curveballs he’s thrown in “Home Run” with some style. This sports drama follows a baseball star with a substance abuse problem forced to coach a youth team, in theaters April 19th. As someone who has dealt with these exact issues it blew me away.

But, The production values were all pretty solid. If you have ever struggled with an abusive situation in your life, either as a by-stander, an addict, an abuser, a victim, or if you know some who has, this movie is very worthwhile. I highly recommend it because we all encounter this in our life at one point or another. It could be because of where I am spiritually, but unlike so many "Christian" films this one didn't seem heavy on preaching Christ.

The main problem is the attempt for atmosphere which is taking over so many movies to stretch them into a full length movie. Lots and lots of music and camera angles always indicates the plot is thin. David Boyd directs this sports drama about baseball all-star Cory Brand, whose life is spiraling out of control, in theaters April 19th. Those down-rating this movie based upon its religious text is just juvenile.

The chemistry between him and Dorian Brown and Charles Wyson is very pleasant to watch. This movie IS about how believing in God and religion can fix all problems. This movie is made by hallmark and I have to say the whole thing does come off as somewhat of an apology card. They should have made a card apologizing for wasting two hours of my life. Predictable writing of a predictable plot with one dimensional characters. I too, like most of the actors in the 12 step meetings could feel myself changing and not in a good way.

With that said, I must say that the acting was very good and drew me into the story. I hope to see more two main actors in other movies in the future. Scott Elrod really made the character believable in his struggle . Dorian Brown reminded me of a young Sandra Bullock and was very charming in her performance.

The holistic programmes on offer are based on our values of supportive, proud and caring and aim to support a sense of well-being for all.
